I used to run a writing blog.
I’m republishing some of my social media content - this was posted on LinkedIn at the start of the year.
A long time ago, in what seems like a galaxy far, far away. I used to run a writing blog. It was where I shared tips on the freelance writing business as I was learning them. My very first post was about why writers should get online, because that was still a question for some in December 2005.
Those early posts were short (and not that great by today's standards). Over time, they got longer and better. I got some help with the blog, and we continued to share our experiences. I eventually moved the blog to Medium, and updated and reissued some of the most popular and useful articles in 2020.
More recently, I moved everything to Substack, and pretty much forgot about it till a couple months ago.
To my surprise, I have 250+ subscribers here, though I'm pretty sure there were fewer than 100 when I set it up. It's a bit of a hodge-podge, as it includes not just the writing tips, but travel pieces, personal reflections and more.
I'm keeping it as a reminder of my journey, and because I need somewhere to put the writing that doesn't fit neatly in other places. I publish sporadically, but there are hundreds of posts there already.
