Do You Blog Too Much?
It’s difficult to say how much is too much when it comes to blogging. When I started blogging, I had just one blog on what was then my main domain. However, I quickly became addicted to blogging, and soon started two or three others on community blogging sites. Over the course of time, I joined almost every new blog site going, only to find that I couldn’t manage to keep up with them. The trouble was that I was also trying to build up my freelance writing career — and ten blogs was just too many.
So gradually I started whittling down the list, getting rid of the blogs where I had few readers and little interest in keeping it going. I got rid of three or four fledgling blogs, and I thought my blogging craze was over. But then I got involved with paid to blog programs, so I added a couple of new blogs just for those (since I wanted to keep some of my content pure).
Then one of the original blog sites went under, which forced me to move all the content to a new blog on its own domain. That was Get Paid To Write Online, my most successful blog to date. I also have my main site, SharonHurleyHall.com, set up as a blog, and have a blog at my old main site. In addition, I have blogs at WriteNiche, BloggerParty, Communati and several blogger blogs, as well as two or three dormant blogs. And those are just mine.
As part of my freelance writing life, I also contribute to five or six blogs under my own name as well as ghost blogging for a couple more. You might think that all this excess would over burden me, but the truth is that I love blogging. What I am finding, though, is that as I blog more for other sites, I have less time to spend on the paid posting blogs. I don’t consider this a great loss, because I write material I can be proud of on the new blogs — and that counts for a lot, too. :)
